Today's J-league 1 game: sample preview

J-League 1: Yokohama F. Marinos- Urawa Reds
Marinos recorded their first league win of the season away to Avispa on Wednesday in a 3-1 win, scoring their 5th goal in their last three halves of football................
Avispa return to the top flight for the first time since 2016, they are a yo-yo club and are expected to struggle and, with four relegation spots this season it will be twice as hard to survive. With that number of teams going down, four of the last seven promoted teams would have been relegated. They have conceded at least two goals in all three league and cup starts to date and now meet one of the most offensive minded teams in Japan and the 2019 champions in YFM. Avispa have actually scored five goals themselves and do have a point on board, but are yet to create a BC and were hardly prolific in JL2 last season, with nine teams scoring more .
This is their toughest test to date and a game Yokohama has to win if they are to get competitive again this season, we can forgive them an opening day loss away to Frontale and they battled well to salvage a point in a 3-3 draw with Sanfrecce, but it will be harder to make excuses or take something out of the performance here, without it coming along with all three points. Avispa have conceded inside the opening 15 minutes in all three starts and if that happens again, I would expect Marinos , who were not just champions but top scorers in 2019 and second only to Frontale for goals scored last season, to run away with this.
Yokohama F.Marinos are finding their form and without the Champions League distraction this season, will be expecting, maybe demanding, to finish top 4 . The goals have started to flow and they match up well against teams who play 4-4-2 and that is almost always Urawa and in the two h2h games last season, YFM scored six and created a massive 11 BC's.
Everyone connected with the club will have celebrated the midweek goal from Marcus Jr, he was a big player in their title winning season and had 26 goals and 6 assists in 52 games until September, since when he did not contribute a goal until the Avispa game and he should kick on from this point .
Urawa Reds have really struggled offensively and they have scored just 22 goals in 21 games, through the same sequence Marinos have notched up 45 goals and only Kawasaki Frontale have a more potent attack. Reds have conceded 15 goals in their last five away starts and I expect them to struggle today.
