MLS: Houston Dynamo- Minnesota United
We have opposed Houston twice this month, looking for them to concede at least twice to Dallas (2-2) and three times to Austin (lost 3-1) and they played out pretty well, ahead of the latter my notes included ...........
Houston kindly conceded twice to FC Dallas in a 2-2 draw on Saturday and my notes for that mainly focussed on the visitors, but included .....
Dynamo have conceded 2+ goals in 5 of their last 6 starts, including at home to Charlotte last time out (2-1 loss) and the visitors had only scored 6 goals in nine road starts prior to that. Charlotte created 4 BC's ,10 attempts ITB, both season high road numbers by a country mile for them and that offers big possibilities for Dallas.
That was a wide open and very physical game, played in gruelling conditions , which also makes this a very quick turnaround for Dynamo. Austin are on fire right now and all three points will take them to the top of not just the Western Conference, but to #1 place in the Supporters Shield race, a position they will be guaranteed to hold for 5 days at least and a very big deal for this still new MLS franchise.
Weather forecast today in Austin is a high of 41 degrees and it will still be circa 37 at kick off, most of the Texas teams are used to hot, humid conditions, but this feels extreme.
The hosts should win and are scoring freely with a big, additional incentive to claim the points. Dynamo are conceding too easily and put up terrible numbers versus Charlotte last week and have played back to back games inside three days in very draining conditions.
Dynamo did get back to winning ways in their only subsequent start,a 2-1 win away to San Jose Earthquakes , who concede for "fun" , a league high 41 times this season at the rate of 2.05 pg. So perhaps we should not read too much into that and SJE had more than enough chances to have taken at least a draw and two goals from that contest.
Minnesota last featured in my notes when they won 3-1 away to the Vancouver Whitecaps two weeks ago, when the hosts had kept back to back home clean sheets going into the game ...........
However, three home clean sheets in a row are notoriously difficult in this high scoring league and Whitecaps have not managed it since 2016, they have recorded two in a row six times subsequently and gave up 2-2-1-2-3-3 goals next time out and a good chance for Minnesota United to continue that trend. The visitors have scored in their last five away starts, eight goals total and have also notched eight in their last four h2h games with Whitecaps as the road team.
United followed that up with four points from two home games and in midweek a 4-0 win over Everton, yes, it was a friendly and means little, but we are talking MLS opposition and it was 4-0! If nothing else, a real confidence boost and the Toffees started with at least eight players who will expect to feature on EPL opening day.
2.25 units Minnesota United to score "over" 1.5 goals 2.55 asian line, best alternative United off level ball @ circa 2.38 same stake.
Good luck!
