Fulham are now promoted , they will be champions with a win , or by bettering Bournemouth's result this evening. They definitely celebrated the promotion, but that was six days ago and have drawn at Bournemouth in the interim, but those two have gone toe to toe at the top of the table all season and I suspect that game had more relevance to the players, the title is coming anyway and motivation might be hard to come by at times over their final three games.

 

Forest have secured a top six finish baring a 21 goal swing with Middlesbrough and seven results all going the North East club's way and that isn't going to happen. But they would move third with the win and maybe as close as two points to Bournemouth, whom they have still to play, a week today in fact. Even if both won this evening, they could still go into that game with a chance and the Cherries have a tough final three starts, with the other two versus Blackburn and Millwall, teams looking to still force their way into 6th place.

 

Fulham deserve promotion and the title and they have been the standout team across 42-43 games, however, since the end of November the mini table looks like this ........

 

 

Forest have played at 100 point level for almost half a season and the arrival of Steve Cooper has transformed the club. He has been a revelation and he is taking a team into the playoffs (as a minimum) for the third straight season in this toughest of leagues. There was also great ambition shown by the board in turning down four offers from Brentford for Brennan Johnson in the January window, the last two of which would have broken the Bees transfer record. That looks less "brave" and an easier decision now, as they appear good for promotion and Johnson's value has increased further, but were big calls at the time. They will clearly be the more motivated of the two this evening and it might still be party time at Craven Cottage, whilst very much business as usual for Forest.
