Serie A: Atalanta - Sampdoria (sent to subscribers @ 10:00 UK time today)
I spoke yesterday about Juventus having closed up on the teams at the top of the table and they have passed Atalanta in recent weeks. The Bergamo club now sit one place , albeit six points adrift of the Old Lady, but do have two games in hand and hold the tie-breaker advantage. They got back on track with a fine 3-0 win away to Olympiacos in the Europa League last Thursday and know they cannot slip up in games like this if they are going to find their way back into the top 4.
Sampdoria are in 14th place , but only 4 points above the drop zone and are certainly not free from relegation concerns, they play the team immediately below them in Genoa this coming weekend and thoughts could quickly turn to that once they feel this game is lost or unsalvageable.
Obviously, like almost everyone else , I favour Atalanta, but have to look for better value in betting them today. The visitors' last ten starts against top five teams have seen them take just a single point, but more interestingly, they trailed at half time in all ten , conceding 2+ first half goals in half of those (5).
Atalanta have played bottom 8 teams 10 times, with an 8-2-0 record , they have led at half time in 7 and scored 2+ first half goals in six , with five games producing 3+ goals before the break.
That all makes the following worth a second look...............
2 units Atalanta -0.75 ball first half betting 2.48.
Atalanta to score over 1.5 first half goals ............ this has happened in 60% of their starts versus bottom 8 teams.
1 unit "over" 2.5 first half goals @ 6.0- 6.50 general quote............this has happened in 5 /10 Atalanta starts v bottom 8 opposition and in 4/10 of Sampdoria's v top 5.
Good luck !
