MLS betting preview: Philadelphia Union- New York Red Bulls

football betting tips -
I sent subscribers a J-League (yesterday) and Brazil Seri A (today), restart stats update and detailed what we expect to happen in those two leagues over the coming months and we have very firm opinions on both.

This has been a very busy midweek, two newsletters yesterday, three today and another three scheduled BEFORE the weekend ! These include our first Football League preview of the new season, which will be ready on Friday afternoon.

I have included notes for one of tonight's MLS matches, the preview was written overnight and sent to subscribers @ 09.59 this morning.......

MLS: Philadelphia Union- New York Red Bulls

Red Bulls had beaten Philly five games in a row before suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat here almost exactly a year ago, the two then drew the reverse fixture in New York later in the year and dropping four points to a major "local" rival in the season they won the Supporters Shield, will have hurt. They re-assumed control in the series with a narrow 2-1 home win in April, but I suspect today is the one they want and to try to erase memories of that heavy loss. They had scored six goals on the two visits prior to that and in such great goalscoring form, they have notched ten goals in their last four starts and facing an opponent who has conceded an average of 2.2 goals in their last ten, they will be eyeing up a repeat of that. Colorado Rapids, Vancouver Whitecaps and New England Revolution has all scored at least three times here in Philly's last trio of home games and Red Bulls are a juicy 5.50-6.50 to follow suit.

The visitors are coming off a big 4-1 defeat of Columbus Crew at the weekend and as I am previewing their match next, those notes are reproduced at the foot of the newsletter. That win got the home "monkey" off their back and will have done wonders for their confidence, all the big names are back in the line up and everything is starting to gel.

The hosts are without midfielder Michael Lahoud and ever present defensive midfielder Amobi Okugu (19-0-0)  who are both suspended, it is hard to overstate Okugu's importance, since coming into the starting eleven he has been pretty much the first name on the team sheet and over the last two and a half seasons he has missed just nine games, through which Union are 0-2-7. Lahoud had been a fringe player previously, but has played every game (when available) under interim coach Jim Curtin and the pair, especially Okugu, have to be viewed as significant losses this evening.

Dax McCarty had 30 minutes off the bench against Crew for NYRB and looks set for more game time this evening, a few people have said the quick turnaround is not ideal for Thierry Henry, but if NY were worried about that, he would surely have not have stayed on the pitch until the 93rd minute at the weekend with his team already two up from the 57th minute. He also played 90 minutes in both previous quick turn around games he has started this season, including the previous meeting between these two, when he scored the opener.

I take him and the rest of the visiting midfield to have a lot of joy against a short handed Union in the centre of the Park.
