The final Champions League place now looks to be a straight race between Valencia and Real Sociedad and Los Che can go above Real and put huge pressure on them ahead of their midweek match with relegation haunted Granada, by winning this lunchtime kick off. Rayo have very little to play for now, a solid start to the season, means that they have been able to cruise through much of 2013 and Valencia have picked up 11 points on them over the last 13 matches.  The visitors see a top 4 spot as almost a god given right and with money always tight at the Mestalla, would greatly miss the usual income boost which comes with Champions League football.

Rayo have only taken 5 points from a possible 21 and they came against teams with an average league placing of 18.7, they have been underperforming against the stronger teams since "safety" was assured and conceded at least two goals in four of their last five home starts, including to both Malaga and Sociedad, the other teams hunting down a top 4 finish.

The visitors arrive without injured midfielder Tino Costa (30-1-6) and suspended forward Jonas (32-13-5), he has nine goals in his last 9 starts and is a big loss, but Robert Soldado (31-19-4) has seven over the same sequence. Also, they do get defensive midfielder David Albelda back from suspension, along with the talented duo of centre back Adil Rami (25-0-2) and right winger Sofiane Feghouli (24-3-5), they all missed last week's 4-0 defeat of Osasuna and even without Jonas and Costa, there should be goals in this for Los Che.

Rayo are without striker Leo Baptistao ( 27-7-7) and right back Tito (32-1-2), the defender has only played 26 minutes in three recent starts ( two at home) and they looked very vunerable in each, conceding seven goals, the match "inbetween" was a 1-1 road draw, so clearly he will be missed, as will the contribution from Leo and the hosts do not have the alternatives that Valencia have. 1.5 units Valencia -0.5 ball 2.08 asian line/Ibramarket.
